● DESIGN PHILOSOPHY & DEEP DIVE

Why we built this tool.

Why We Built YourKeep

Most modern backup software hides the important decisions behind a cloud account. YourKeep starts from a different premise: personal archives should remain available, protected, and recoverable even when the service around them changes.

YourKeep was created to prove that software can be independent, permanent, and private by default.

An archive should not become less useful because a company changes its pricing, closes its service, or decides that your files belong inside a new product. YourKeep keeps the centre of gravity on your devices and makes the important parts of the system understandable.

Core Philosophy

  1. Local First: Your archive begins on your own devices rather than inside a remote database.
  2. Zero Knowledge: Encryption is part of the architecture, not a premium setting added later.
  3. Open Recovery: A backup is only useful if it gives you a dependable way back to your files.

YourKeep is less interested in the cloud as a destination than in the archive as a relationship: a durable, inspectable connection between you and the things you have decided to keep.
